4/ Meta agrees to $1.4 billion settlement in State of Texas biometric data lawsuit
The suit, filed by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton in February 2022, accused Meta of capturing and using the biometric data of millions of Texas residents — which was contained in uploaded photos and videos on Facebook — without legally required permissions
Texas, unlike State of Illinois, has no private right of action for citizens so this money it going to Texas revenue coffers
