Digital Identity Friday Five: March 15, 2024
Covering the most interesting news for the week of March 9 to March 15
Today is Friday, March 15. Here are five things in #digitalidentity that I found interesting this week
1/ Joanna Stern of The Wall Street Journal Interviews OpenAI CTO #MiraMurati About Sora
This isn’t a press release but a video interview about OpenAI’s new text-to-video AI model called Sora
Joanna covers questions with Mira about Sora:
* How does generative AI tech work?
* Why does it mess up sometimes?
* When will it be released to the public?
* What data was it trained on? (the answer or lack of answer is interesting)

3/ authID and Verified Inc. Partner to Launch 1-Click Identity Verification
"Together with authID, we’re delivering highly secure and easily accessible identity assurance that stops fraud but does not compromise on convenience." said Aidan McCarty, CEO and Co-Founder of Verified Inc
4/ TechCrunch: Nigeria’s Youverify raises $2.5M to enhance anti-money laundering compliance
TechCrunch noted Youverify, a Nigerian provider of identity verification and anti-money laundering (#AML) solutions for banks and startups, secured a $2.5 million investment
Congrats to Youverify's Co-founder & CEO, Gbenga Odegbami!
5/ BIPA: State of Illinois Senate passes bill changing liability laws for BIPA
Currently, companies can be held liable in civil court for $1,000 in damages for each #biometrics violation
If the proposal becomes law, BIPA damages would change to $1,000 per person
The bill still has a ways to go before becoming law... Never heard of #BIPA? You should connect with Dr. BIPA, Doug OGorden
And those are this week’s #fridayfive
